Stage 4 cancer- alternative therapy

My name is Kelly Doran , I am 56 and diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer this past January. This is my story: I had breast cancer stage 1 - 10 years ago. Went through a lumpectomy and 32 radiation treatments. I really never worried about it after getting a clean bill of health. I went to my scans every year and they were always clear. I was honestly just enjoying my life. Some of the things I was doing during this worry free time of my life I traveled to Costa Rica , went zip lining. I also ran a tough mudder, fell in love with a wonderful man, watched my son get married to a wonderful girl and recently welcomed my first baby grandson. I was absolutely enjoying every moment life had to give me . About a year and half before I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer I felt over all unwell and started to go to many doctors and specialists for over a year and a half no one could figure out what was wrong . Every blood test was fine every scan or ultra sound was fine and they would say “good to go” but I felt like something was wrong and literally went back to all of the many doctors and specialists I was seeing at that point at least once a month insisting they needed to do more to do and something was wrong. My symptoms kept getting worse. So finally last year right before Xmas I noticed I was having a hard time catching my breath when going up and down stairs so went to the doctor yet again. They actually asked me if I was having a anxiety attack and I was like I can’t breath -listened to my lungs and thought I was fine but did another X-ray to be sure so this time they saw fluid in my periodontal cavity! They drained it - which was very painful and biopsied the fluid . I got a email in my MY CHART 3 days before Xmas saying I had adenocarcinoma! Nice news to get in a email! It literally brought me to my knees. So now I wait through Xmas not knowing how bad it was and totally freaking out . When I finally had the appointment in early Jan with my oncologist, I was told it was stage 4 . I was like you have to be kidding me I was at the doctors office every month doing testing they said because it was in my lymph nodes they could not see it . I also have factor 5 Leiden blood clotting disease which limits medication I am able to take . I was put on a hormone pill that made me so sick I almost had a heart attack from it. I was on it for 6 months the side effects were unbearable . After getting so sick from the medicine I was on I am seeking alternative therapy with a functional doctor that has had very positive results. I started therapy today and am feeling slightly better. This therapy is not covered by insurance and is very pricey . It is a very specific plan where they test your bio markers , figure out why you are making the cancer and and make a individualized plan to target your cancer cells specifically. They are trying to build your immune system up so you no longer make cancer. The idea is if your body is working properly then it is able to fight the cancer on its own . We all make cancer cells every day and your body’s P53 tumor suppressant gene fights them. They think my P53 cancer fighting gene was altered and the good news is with the right treatment you can possibly get it to start working on its own again . Also cancer cannot live in a body that is oxygenated so they help you get back to that optimal level of being oxygenated so that your cancer can not survive . The therapy is 3,000 a week and not covered by Insurance . I go for Infusions two times a week in Buffalo. The therapy at least offers me some hope for a fix unlike just medicating the problem with something that causes symptoms worse than the cancer and just puts a bandaid on the problem but never really fixes it and also creates long term health problems. I plan on surviving this so I need my heart ,need my kidneys etc. I met someone who went to this doctor that had the same kind of cancer as me stage 4 and no longer has cancer after this therapy and has been cancer free for 6 years. This is basically my last chance to save my life. My biggest fear is to die before my 4 month old grandson has a chance to get to know who I am.
