What's this Mission Trip All About?
At St. Agatha Parish in Milton, we are blessed to have many young people who beautifully desire to serve those in need. This desire has carried us to serve on a short-term mission in Kentucky through a Christian-based organization called the Appalachia Service Project .
We travel over 15 hours by van to the Appalachian regions of Kentucky to work with real families who must make daily decisions between things such as: medication and food, fixing the floor or buying shoes for their children, paying utilities or buying gas for their car... if they are lucky enough to have one...
We help these folks in a physical way by repairing roofs, installing drywall, placing support beams, re-siding, fixing floors, and other essential home repairs. We also build friendships with and minister to those families we serve.
This is all amazing work!! However, this amazing work comes at a price. We need to raise a grand total of $15,000 just to break even on the costs of our trip. In addition to each volunteer's tuition that is fully submitted to the organization, we have to consider renting 8 large vehicles, gas, tools, hydration while working in the summer Kentucky heat, etc. It quickly adds to a lot for 51 of us! We have set our online goal at $10,000 as we hope to raise $5,000 directly in our church fundraisers. You can truly join in our work by helping us get there!
We would be INCREDIBLY grateful for any donations you prayerfully consider to offer. We would be very happy to share our experience with you upon our return so you can see and feel blessed in where your generosity led us.
Thank you in advance for your prayerful support and generosity. God bless your family.
