Stacy Scott's Medical Costs
Donation protected
In early 2019, Stacy made the decision to have a gastric bypass completed. After months of preparation, education, and medical appointments, her surgery was competed in late May 2019. Shortly after the procedure, complications began. The severity of each following issue increased to the point that Stacy was unable to eat anything by mouth. Ultimately, Stacy and David elected to self-transfer her care to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The excellent staff at Mayo Clinic quickly determined that severe malnutrition was the main culprit for Stacy’s condition. The approximately 2.5 week stay resulted in another surgery to place a gastrostomy (feeding) tube. Since May 2019, Stacy has been hospitalized for over 60 nights, mostly due to various complications/infections as a result of the initial, botched surgery. During her time hospitalized, her husband, David, cares for their six children at home.
Stacy and David are traveling again to the Mayo Clinic to have another major surgery to repair her digestive tract. This is the most complex procedure thus far and a last-ditch effort to improve her quality of life for the long-term. She still has a significant journey ahead.
This GoFundMe was created to help ease the financial burden the Scott family is facing. On January 1, health insurance benefits reset and due to the current, broken healthcare system, their low deductible health insurance plan was no longer available. Medical expenses, fuel, lodging, food, etc. have amounted to more than $10,000 since September 2019. All funds donated will be given directly to the Scott Family to assist them on their journey. Together, we can help ease their financial burden so they can focus on healing as a family.
Thank you for all your support!!!
