Stabilzing Life for Nicci's Combined Family

Sometimes bad things happen to good people.  This happens to be the case of Nicci, who is a young Native American woman from the Haliwa-Saponi and Nansemond tribe, who because of her own personal sacrifice, has found herself in a series of unfortunate events.

As a single Mom, she receives no financial assistance in raising her own two children. But when she found out that her 3 nieces and nephew were being severely abused and were taken away from her family member, she stopped her own world and worked tirelessly to get custody of them as well.  And she won - they were not put into the foster system but now stay with her and her children.

The struggle was hard and try as she might, she lost their housing situation.  The safety of her family has now being put in peril due to her sacrifice, and she finds herself moving from place to place to keep the children safe.  And last week, due to the ice storm in NC, she ended up totaling their only form of transportation. 

Right now this family needs help.  Immediately. 

First off, Nicci needs to find reliable transportation.  She has a job but needs transportation to get back and forth. 

Secondly, her family needs money to secure a future safe home for her kids and to provide provisions. 

Nicci is an incredible jewelry maker and is steadfast in sharing her culture and knowledge, as well as a hug and encouragement to all who need it.  She would be the first to help out if someone she cared for was having a hard time.  That's why this fundraiser for her is easy to put together because we all know that if this was anyone else, she'd be the first in line to help.
