This is really hard for me to share, but I’m asking for help during a very difficult transition.

My dad was a kind, proud man who worked hard his entire life and loved his family deeply. As his dementia progressed, he lost much of his mobility, hearing, and vision, and over time he was no longer able to care for himself or communicate easily.

My kids and I were there for him every day. We physically helped him move, assisted him in the bathroom and with bathing, prepared his meals, helped him eat, and provided constant support as he was unable to care for himself. I also helped him with paperwork, including his taxes, and managed his household responsibilities. This was a role no daughter ever expects to take on, but I did it because it had to be done. At the same time, I was raising my kids, working just enough to keep my spot at the salon, managing our home, and keeping everything together—it was overwhelming, exhausting, and all-consuming.

After almost three years of full-time caregiving, my dad recently passed away. While we are grieving, I now face the financial reality of having been out of work, along with unexpected costs including cremation, bills, mortgage, fire insurance, and house repairs. In addition, everyday expenses such as gas, trash, and utilities continue, and my son has an urgent dental procedure in February that will cost over $2,000.

The house also needs repairs and cleaning in order to be safely sold, or rented out which adds to the expenses.

The funds raised will help cover:

• Cremation and memorial expenses

• Mortgage, fire insurance, and household bills

• Necessary repairs, cleaning, and prep to sell the house

• Gas, trash, utilities, and other ongoing expenses

• My son’s dental procedure and essential family needs

• Miscellaneous and unexpected costs during this transition
