I don't talk about things much, because I don't want to burden people. It's not about pride. But things are bad - really bad to the point that I've had to get verbally clubbed over the head to even think about setting something like this up. It hurts to write, but they've got a point.

To avoid stress where my mother and I were living at prior, we decided we'd take this trailer from my aunt and uncle and move in together, so she'd stop going to the hospital for blood pressure problems. Social Security told us that we wouldn't have problems and it wouldn't impact our income. They lied. They took a $300 chunk of each of our monthly checks for a month, claiming we acquired an asset, and that messed with us real hard. There isn't a single bill we aren't behind on and isn't in threat of getting shut off; internet ($400), water ($300+), energy ($900), cellphone ($1k), others I can't think of offhand. This place is in worse condition than we initially thought, to the point that I have no power in my room because a mouse chewed wires in the past, and it wasn't fixed. Door frames and window frames are poorly set up, letting cold air in and the heater blasting far more often than it should (hiking the power bill up.) Rotting floors/walls, insulation that's been harboring however many rainfalls worth of water in the ceiling for who knows how long, electrical problems - you name it, there's something wrong with it. Needless to say, this impacts things like affording basic necessities like food and clothing, which have had to take a back seat a couple of times. We and our pets haven't gone totally food-less, yet.

It literally hurts to write this out, but my friend has a point: when is asking for help less of a problem than the actual problems. I can only imagine how my mom's been feeling, and our pets can't be feeling much better, either. My mother and our pets would be the ones truly benefiting, with their improvement and health helping my own. I'm more worried about them than I am myself, and my mother is the same way. Any aid, large or small, will be going directly to taking care of them. Any little bit helps, and there can never be enough gratitude shown for generosity, considering us worth your time if nothing else.

Update #1: ISP bill paid! We can safely ensure we can manage the other bills and any related information, on top of our sanity. Water bill arrangements are made, we might be able to handle that one on our own. Energy assistance has been developed, we'll hear back soon on how that will go.
