Stabbing of Shawn while eating an ice cream cone

Good Day! First of all, I wish to thank many for the support, compassion, and private messages received after the stabbing of my son Shawn. I am forever grateful. As many of you know he was stabbed twice in the back while strolling down a street licking an ice cream cone. Minding his own business - just enjoying the day. When he collapsed to the pavement, a kind gentleman called the police who escorted him to the nearest hospital. He was rushed into emergency surgery for a punctured lung. The physical and mental repercussions of a violent crime lingers and loops. Then enters the financial stress and worries. The whole incident is shocking, and our minds were so preoccupied with his well being, we never thought of flooding medical bills and the lack of payment and support from insurance companies for violent crimes. All who know me know I do not ask; but, I am not asking for me - I am asking for my son. I wish for him to fully recuperate from this unbelievable tragedy and live a life without looking over his shoulder as now he suffers from PTSD. If you can find it in your heart, PLEASE help with the financial burden as his concentration should be on the healing of his mind and body, NOT how he is going to pay for getting stabbed while walking down a street licking an ice cream cone.                                                                                                                                                                                             From the bottom of my heart and his, we 'THANK YOU' for listening, caring, and making a difference.
