SCU Benson Worker Emergency Relief Fund

Donate whatever you are able to support this student-created relief fund. Benson workers will be able to use these one-time grants for groceries, rent, medical expenses, child/elder care, and other urgent expenses created by the pandemic and subsequent job loss.
Of the over 100 Bon Appetit employees at SCU, all but twelve have been unemployed since September 1st and will lose their health insurance at the end of the month. Bon Appetit employees have been excluded from any emergency relief offered by the University.
Any amount helps! If you want to provide additional support, SIGN OUR PETITION (coming soon) calling on Bon Appetit and the Union to guarantee health insurance for the workers until the end of the pandemic.

UPDATE: I am going to start sending checks this week. Workers are requesting funds through a google form application and then I am calling them to confirm their address. The google form asks what their position was, what emergency expense they need covered and how much they are requesting (up to $300 for the first round). Once again, qualifying expenses include groceries, rent, medical expenses, child/elder care, and other urgent expenses created by the pandemic and subsequent job loss. I am distributing these funds as an individual student organizer, but with support from Advocacy for Workers on Campus (AWC).
