Those are hard words to say for me. I have always strived to do things for myself and prove to myself that I can do anything I set my mind too. I work hard and do everything I can to provide for myself but that is not always easy to do. As some may know I am a preschool teacher and love what I do immensely and it pays me what I need to get by for the day to day stuff.
But a couple months ago I learned that my day to day was going to soon change, so now I have to do what I can and ask you to help.
How it all started...
I was having some pain and discomfort in my lower left abdomen and decided that I should go into urgent care to get it checked out. I have had issues in the past with cysts on my ovaries and I thought I would try to get in front of it before/if it got worst. Little did I know that it was not my ovary it was a mass in my uterus. The urgent care doctors were not exactly sure what it was after the ultrasound and CT scan so they referred me out to a gynecology specialist. After what seemed like endless liters of blood tests, ultrasounds, physical exams, an MRI, talks of cancer, and a biopsy they think they have an answer.
My doctors are fantastic and really have been supportive and encouraging during the process of figuring out what was going on. The test were showing a mass in the left side of my uterus roughly the size of a small cantaloupe or large grapefruit but it was not presenting in a typical way. My doctors had to take time, research, and discuss to come up with an answer. It was not simple or easy since what they ended up diagnosing me with is a Lipoleiomyoma. An extremely rare type of tumor that a woman has a .03%-.2% chance of getting. All I could think once I processed it all was "that makes me some sort of magical unicorn!!!"
Once the doctors had a decent idea of what was going on with me they came up with a game plan. Unfortunately the plan involves a scalpel. They will be going in abdominally to remove the tumor on June 14th 2017. I have every faith in my team of surgeons and know that they will do what is best for me and have reassured me that they will do everything they can to preserve my fertility but have warned me of all that could go wrong. I am going to stay positive and say that what needs to be done is what is best for me, whatever the outcome I will keep my chin up.
Why I need help...
I am so blessed to have good health insurance that will work with me and help keep the cost as low as possible. I am truly so thankful for this, as I am aware just how expensive this all could be. That being said there is still unfortunately a financial burden for me. The biggest setback is that I will be unable to work for the summer, which is always a little bit of a struggle for me since my school is not year round. Between saving what I can and picking up jobs here and there, I usually manage to scrap by, but I fear I am not going to be able to do it this summer. The doctors have said I will need that time to recover and heal especially since what I do can be physically demanding.
What your donation means for me…
Any donations I receive will immediately go towards maintaining my finances. I wish rent, car payments, credit cards, medical, and utility payments could just pause in a time like this, but that is not the case. They go on whether you are able to pay them or not. I have worked hard, always paid, and never been late and I would like to keep it that way. Like I said before I do not like to ask for help, but I need to set that aside and ask you for help today.
I am so appreciative to all of you for even reading my page and would love anything you can offer. Trust me when I say words of wisdom, support, and love are as much of a blessing in this time as financial contribution, every little thing helps!!!
