Hello Friends and Supporters
We are Terrance and Jamie Daniels
We have been blessed with 5 children ranging in age from 2 to 20. Our youngest pride and joy, “Terrance Jr” is 2 years old and was born with a cystic hygroma and ventricular enlargement due to brain atrophy which you have probably never heard of. Neither had we until the doctors explained what it meant and that it would be Jr’s lifelong challenge. Initially, we were heartbroken to learn that our youngest child would not progress developmentally like our other children. But never the less we are blessed to have our son in our lives. Yes, he has many challenges to deal with, but he brings so much joy to our entire family with his smile and recognition of each of us in his way. He particularly lights up when his big sister Truely, 4 years old, walks into the room and of course when he hears his mother’s voice. Oh yes, we did not mention that Jr also has a diagnosis of cortical visual impairment. He has multiple diagnoses that you will see at the end of this request. Along with his primary diagnosis and the challenges of learning to walk and talk comes numerous routine diagnostic testing and special equipment to assist his needs.
As one may imagine, these types of medical challenges and associated needs come at a high price not only emotionally for Jr and our entire family but also in terms of actual daily care and cost of services and the equipment he will need as he reaches each new hurdle in his limited ability. Although we were a two-income family, with many appointments and constant daily care, we have been limited to a single income. We are struggling to make ends meet with one income as we juggle frequent doctor visits and try to stretch our money to cover the cost of his customized equipment along with intense physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapies. The diagnosis for our son is physical and cognitive delays so his needs will be ongoing. His actual multiple diagnoses are listed below and hopefully will help you understand better what Jr’s challenges all are about:
Medically Complex Patient
Global Developmental Delay
Cortical Visual Impairment
Feeding Difficulties
Infantile Spasms With Epilepsy
Microcephaly
Ventricular Enlargement Due To Brain Atrophy
Cystic Hygroma
This is extremely important to us because our lives have not been the same since having Terrance jr, but we keep our hopes high and try to stay positive with his diagnosis and disabilities. We try to include him in everything our family does, we feel if we push him he will have a positive outcome and a better chance at life. He is our “strong man” our “guy-guy” and he has overcome so much in his 2 years of life already. We have a long road ahead of us just to get him sitting up, standing walking etc….
We are asking for donations of any amount as every little bit helps cover medical equipment, therapy, lost wages, and other out-of-pocket expenses that accumulate by having a child with disabilities.
God Bless and Thank you for your support
