About 3 months ago my co-worker’s life was turned upside down unjustly. Amy’s husband ‘A’ was following the Immigration process, had been checking in and obtained his annual work permit. He was on his way for his annual check-in & literally taken by ICE with no due process. He is a Utah resident, married with a 2 yr old daughter and a 15 yr old son, employed and a tax paying citizen. Regardless of what your political affiliation is, this should be an outrage. These families are being destroyed and there is no end to the damage being caused. In addition to the trauma being felt by the family left behind, these deported citizens are facing unimaginable circumstances many in foreign countries where they have never been to and have no connections. ‘A’ is now trying to survive in a corrupt foreign country, with corrupt law enforcement. He has no rights, no money, no ID and no connections. He is not allowed to leave that country for at least a year. He went from living the American Dream & working to provide for his family -to now being dehumanized, treated like a criminal and forced to check in with a military camp. He is basically a prisoner in a foreign country. There are some things you can do now to help. First, please contribute what you can to my friend and co-worker Amy. She is suddenly down to one income, but now needing to pay $2000/month just for her daughter’s childcare. The bills are overwhelming and while she has no choice but to continue to work, she’s overwhelmed with grief and balancing how to support her family both financially and emotionally. Any amount helps to relieve the financial burden so she can turn her attention to her children with less worry and fear. Second, VOTE! Write your Congressional Representative.
