St. Theresa's (Trumbull) new organ

St. Theresa Parish has been given the unique opportunity to expand its vibrant liturgical music program with the purchase of a second organ, which is to be installed in the choir loft.

The tracker organ was recently purchased from United Congregational Church in Bridgeport. United was converted into a mosque in June. The organ was originally manufactured by the Roche Organ Company in 1981, for a Catholic church in Providence, R.I. that also closed.

HOW WILL A SECOND ORGAN ENHANCE OUR WORHIP EXPERIENCE?

The musical traditions of the church span many centuries and styles of music; a dialogue between the chancel and the gallery organs can greatly enrich our liturgy in reviving the sacred music practices of our glorious musical tradition.  For example, it allows for the possibility of performing with a double choir in an echo or antiphonal arrangement for special services such as Lessons and Carols, and in concert settings.

The choirs will continue to sing from their current location for the majority of the services and using the main organ. The Roche will open the possibilities of music led entirely from the gallery for weddings, funerals, and special adoration services, as well as offering the Tenebrae service and Latin masses with organ accompaniment, broadening interest in the Traditional Rite.
