ST. ROSE'S SCIENCE LAB REFURBISHMENT PROJECT

Help us upgrade the St. Roses Senior High School science laboratories

Family, friends, supporters of our cause-

We are the 94/96 ROSA Year Group, a lifelong sisterhood who graduated from St. Rose's Senior High School, Akwatia, Ghana almost 30 years ago.

We come to you to request your support of our ambitious cause; to help upgrade the St. Roses SHS science laboratories. Your donation will help develop a generation of inventors, scientists, nurses, doctors and engineers; leaders with unlimited potential who will contribute towards making this world a better place.

Research has shown that girls and women are systematically pulled away from Science, Mathematics and Engineering throughout their education. This limits their access, preparation and opportunities to go into these fields as they become independent adults.

In Ghana, fewer than 10% of schools own the necessary science equipment and labs needed for practical STEM education. (GSTEP Practical STEM Education in Ghana Barriers and Opportunities Report-April 2022)

When women are given equal opportunities to pursue STEM careers, it helps to, narrow the gender pay gap, enhance women’s economic security, ensure a diverse and talented STEM workforce and prevent biases in these fields, and the products and services they produce.

With that in mind, our year group is looking forward to championing this cause, so we can give back to our Alma mater, as we celebrate our 30-year graduation anniversary.

The existing laboratory equipment are mostly broken or outdated, which is why we have committed to upgrading the school science laboratories with new equipment and completing minor facility refurbishments.

Our research has determined that we would need approximately $50,000 to fund this project. We recognize that we can not do this alone. For full disclosure, we intend to raise this amount through two main avenues, primarily through personal and public contributions using this gofundme platform, and also through the solicitation of funds from local Ghanaian companies. Any amount in excess of our goal will be applied towards additional school upgrades.

We humbly request your financial support in this regard. Our goal is to raise the funds by August 2023, to allow the successful completion and handover of the project by August 2024.

This donation request will initially be distributed by a ROSA 94/96 member. We hope this request reaches as many people as possible who can support our cause, so kindly pass this on to help us reach our goal.
