Help St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Repair Rectory

Donation protected
In 1922, a group of faithful and committed Ukrainian men and women banded together and purchased property on 2nd Street in order to build for themselves their own place of worship, established as St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. After many decades, they eventually outgrew that space and purchased the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church property. It had been closed for a number of years and was on the market for sale. Built in the 1930’s, it had served the local Italian-American Catholic community for decades.

The church building and rectory are now in need of some substantial repairs and restorations in order to continue serving the Hudson community. The Ukrainian faithful have been recently blessed with a new young priest and his wife, who will be joining the community in late fall of 2025. Unfortunately, the rectory is in no shape to welcome a newlywed young couple just starting out in life. While the parishioners are working hard putting in their time, talents and donations, they cannot complete their goal of bringing this historic cultural building into fully functioning condition without reaching out to the greater community for help. These upgrades are a commitment to both preservation and renewal, with deep respect for the past and an eye to the future.

After completing substantial emergency repairs on the roof, they are humbly asking for $10,000 to help them install a new kitchen and complete major repairs in 3 bathrooms in the priest’s private residence. For many parishioners, a church is more than a building; it is a spiritual home where generations of family history have unfolded through baptisms, weddings, funerals, and weekly Mass. If you or your family have ever been blessed by the former Mt. Carmel Church, or you’re just someone who prefers vibrant neighborhood restoration to urban decay, please consider helping us meet the costs for this renewal project. Your gift will provide a welcoming and functioning home for their new priest and preserve the legacy of those hardworking and faithful Ukrainians and Italians of Hudson long ago!
