St. Michael’s Day Care Centre
Donation protected
The St. Michael’s Day-care Centre is located near Diani Town, in the Kwale County of Kenya.
The volunteering project was established in July 2013 with the idea to take care of pre-school aged children within the Diani area and its environs.
At the beginning it started with one child but after two months the number of children increased to 17. The day care accommodates vulnerable children whose parents have low-income jobs or are unemployed. Many of the parents infact find themselves away from the area the entire day looking for food, water or a job and are not able to afford a house help to take care of their children. The St. Michael’s Day Care Centre provides a safe place for the kids offering meals, a basic education and different entertainment activities. The project also seeks to respond to the needs of homeless girls who have been abandoned and neglected. The founder takes care of these girls within the community and lead them to attend to nearby schools to get education.
The wish of the project is to have a large and well established home. There are lots of children in need for help, but the project can’t afford to support them all because of the high costs of food, electricity, education, clothings; but with your help and your donations you can make the difference!
