we are running 10 K in a St Luke’s organised event on May 16th and would like your help to raise as much money as we can to give back to an amazing organisation.

St Luke’s is very near and dear to my heart and our families as they have helped care for our amazing grandad Brian who was diagnosed with an incurable disease in 2022. Our grandparents are very close to me as they have helped raise us along side our parents, they have been amazing to us and we couldn’t ask for a better pair of grandparents. When our grandad was first diagnosed we was unsure of the extent of the illness and as the years went on and his condition worsened he was referred to St Luke’s. He was offered to stay for a few weeks while they helped balance his medicine and got him on the mend to send home. We was welcome to visit whenever we needed and we was treated well by the friendly staff who spoke to us daily and took the time to make us feel as welcome as my grandad during his stay. The nurses from St Luke’s came twice daily after he returned home and would speak to him about his Arsenal games, cooking shows, dinner and worse of all… Heartbeat (which he has now gone off apparently) As well as treating my grandad well they also would treat our nan equally to him, also offering her support and help to take some tasks off her hands and also having a chat. St Luke’s supported both our grandparents at every step of the way.

Our run will not only be in thanks to St Luke’s but to him as well for being the best grandad anyone could ask for.

While we have cared for him they have supported us and most importantly my grandad in the last year as the treatment has progressed.

The hospice help many other individuals and their families like us and deserve a big thank you from the community.
