St. Louis Arts and Music Fund

UPDATE: Here's some more specific information about the fund:

Who We Are: A fund created by Ben Majchrzak (of Native Sound Recording) to help artists in need in the St. Louis, MO community.

Who Are We Helping: Any and all music and arts related industry members that need financial assistance in this trying time of need.

How Will My Donation Be Used: Your donations will go directly into the hands of those that we are helping to aid them with anything they may need it for. Rent, mortgage, groceries, utilities, etc.

When and How Will Aid Be Provided: As soon as we hit our goal of $5,000 the application process will be opened. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received and up to 5% of the fund will be given to each applicant that qualifies.

How Do I Qualify: If you are an artist/musician/crew member from the St. Louis community who is currently without work or income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and your application is approved, you qualify. The application link will be posted here as well as on our Facebook page "STL Arts and Music Fund". Please check there for more daily updates.

The recent event cancellations and postponements have already been devastating all over the country. St. Louis's music community is no different and many of the musicians and industry people involved are staring down a long and scary tunnel with no potential income for a very long time now. The purpose of this fund is to try to help alleviate that stress and fear.

Most of those most directly hurt by this lack of income are folks we work with on a weekly/daily basis. Some of them we don't know at all, but we do know that they all need our help. So this fund isn't for us. It isn't for anyone in particular honestly. It's for any and every creative freelancer in St. Louis to use as a relief for all current financial burdens they may have.

The goal for now is to reach $5000. If and when that number is hit we'll raise the goal again to whatever it needs to be. We will continue collecting money as long as you are donating it. Once we've hit $5000, I will be opening up the fund for aid applications. At that point, anyone who applies can receive up to 5% of the current amount in the fund. So to start, the max aid given will be $250 per application.

We're asking that each individual limit their applications to one per month, so as to allow as many individuals as possible to receive aid. If the fund runs out, we will wait until it hits $5000 again and start the process over. Hopefully this isn't the case. I'm asking for a $10 minimum donation. But if that's not possible, and you still want to give, give what you can.

Throughout the process, as a way to incentivise donations, the fundraiser will be hosting remote live music shows for all who care to watch. These shows will be donation based. A 'give what you can/want' amount with a minimum suggestion of $10/person. But, once again, if you can't afford anything, the shows will still be available to any and all who care to watch and listen. We all need music right now. It's such a uniting force. So let's try to help those that are creating it for us and do what we can, while we can for them.

The shows will be hosted most likely on Facebook Live, so as to allow for the most possible reach and viewership. They may be from your favorite local St Louis band, or a band you've never heard of. As this part of the process comes together, we will keep you updated.

Please consider giving anything you can. It's greatly appreciated.
