Want to join me in making a difference? I’m raising money to benefit Temple Street Children's Hospital, specifically St. Gabriel's Neurosurgery Ward.
In January of this year, our world was turned upside down when our beautiful boy Jim suffered a brain haemorrhage. He subsequently underwent brain surgery in Beaumont Hospital performed by Professor Javadpour. Whilst the surgery itself was successful, Jim suffered many post surgery complications and had a prolonged stay on St. Gabriel's Ward in Temple Street Children's Hospital, returning home in April.
From the moment we arrived in Temple Street the staff wrapped their arms around us and helped us get through the most horrendous and traumatic time of our lives.
Jim battled continuously for weeks on end, words could never explain the depths of what he endured on his journey. However, the level of care and compassion and the resources available to children and their families is amazing. Jim's recovery was aided with help from so many individuals, the Play Specialist, the Music Therapist whose music lifted us up on the most challenging days, the Hospital School Teachers, Psychologists, the Neurosurgical team led by the outstanding and compassionate Neurosurgeon, Dr. Taffy Mandiwanza, the Neurosurgical Nurse Specialists, the amazing Nursing staff, the Hospital Porters and Health Care Assistants, O.T.'s and Physios.
Every single person we came in contact with during our stay, including our trips to Beaumont Hospital., went above and beyond to help us and while we are fortunate enough and extremely grateful to be thrown back into 'normal life' we are acutely aware that life can change in an instant, and that other children and their families are going through the most difficult of journeys in hospital as I write this.
After our experience we feel very strongly about giving back in some small way, to help other children and their families on St Gabriel's Ward. The funds will go towards resources for the children during their stay, providing huge comfort to their families.
I will walk/run 100k in November, Gerard will also complete 100k and we will include our three amazing children and our newest addition 'Rocky the Dog' in as much as possible. We are extremely grateful and blessed to be able to do it!
Thanks in advance for any contribution. It is very much appreciated.
