Hello Everyone
Lion Robbie Burt here I am the Blind guy in Summerside just wanted to tell you about my next crazy adventure and see if you might be able to help with out. I set a goal for 2024 to get back into shape to possibly race again in 2025. I am at check point one of my plans. Weight and diet in check endurance increasing nicely 4 weeks ahead of schedule so I thought I would reward myself with an unrealistic achievable challenge. I have decided to turn this into a fundraiser for the homeless we all know this has been a hot topic in every community across the country lately and I thought I would try and raise so money to purchase winterized ice fishing tents for those living outdoors. I am member of my local Lions Club I have been in contact with our Mayor and Council and have a meeting setup to discuss what’s the best options we have. I am looking for something immediate to get people off the street and not freezing to death. They say you don’t know what another person is going though until you walk a mile in their shoes so I February 28 and 29 I will walk 100 miles to be enlightened and raise a few dollars for a worthy cause. I plan on leaving the western tip of P.E.I. in Tignish on the 28th at 7 or 8am and walk to Hunter River Lions Club walking along the Confederation trail. I have decided to support to local groups who are working on the homeless issue in Summerside. 1) Hope House Summerside a 5-bed emergency shelter for mothers at risk with infant children. Ran by the Island Pregnancy Centre. 2) The Village a group of volunteers working to help relieve some of the hardship our local homeless community faces daily. They are currently fundraising for tents for the homeless.
