A NOTE FROM OUR CHAIRPERSON OF THE FINANCE COUNCIL:
Note to My Fellow Parishioners and Friends of St. Colman Parish
I thought that it might be a good time to send a note to you concerning our parish. During this time of
restricted movement and contact, attendance at church services is not available. Our parish continues
to serve our parish members and neighbors. Scheduling of lifetime events, such as baptisms, weddings
and funerals continues by the parish staff and priests. Individual counseling and personal guidance also
continue by our parish priests. These demands will continue to increase as both physical and social
support needs become more demanding. Support of individuals needing food and clothing is also
continuing from the parish. This need will be increasing due to high unemployment and demands on
other sustenance offering agencies exceeding their capabilities. The parish’s assistance to those on the
fringes of our society will also be increasing. Many of these individuals and families might escape the
governmental aid that is available to those of us in the mainstream of the economic system.
Maintenance of the parish properties is ongoing and continues to present new economic challenges.
Cancellation of events that subsidize our parish have affected the expected support and could be a
threat to the parish’s position as a place of sanctuary for those who need assistance the most at this
time. St. Patrick’s Day events cancellations, fish fries and availability of offertory collections have
reduced the parish’s opportunity to continue its collection of needed support. I am sending this note as
a reminder to look to ways you might continue to support your parish. Please support your parish by
mailing in your offertory donations by week or monthly. You might find that, due to your restrictions on
entertainment that savings are encountered in your personal budget. Possibly, other entertainment or
vacation possibilities have made themselves unavailable and there are savings that do not currently
have a designation. These funds of opportunity might be used as new sources of support for your
parish.
I am pleading with you to look for these opportunities to be more generous to St. Colman Parish to help
our parish meet its administrative and charitable needs. I have already started mailing in offertory
donations. I am looking for additional opportunities that I have for parish support. Please try to find
ways to continue to provide support or look for opportunities to furnish additional support.
Thank you for your attention and continued support of our parish.
