Darren's road to recovery
Donation protected
As many of you know, Darren is an over the road truck driver and the only source of income for our family. He is away from home and family for weeks at a time to do his part to support us, and because he loves what he does. Our youngest requires 24 hour care which makes it more difficult for me to get out and go to work. I do my best to stay on top of her health needs, as well as keeping the home front running as smoothly as possible, while still trying to be there for Darren when he needs me and both our kids. My "job" is overwhelming on a good day.
Even though the events that have transpired this weekend could have be so much worse, it is still going to knock us down quiet a bit and working back up from this is going to be challenging at best. Darren will most likely not be able to go back to work for months. The recovery time is yet to be determined.
I will be heading to Tulsa, OK to pick him up and bring him home. (At least 16+ hour round trip) This will be an unexpected emergency trip for me, so I am still planning out the details to make sure our daughter is covered and safe at home while I am away.
We are setting up this go fund me to help cover us financially and medically through this. We so desperately need to keep a roof over our heads and continue to provide a safe environment for our medically fragile daughter. Even the smallest donation will help us more than you know. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing our go fund me to reach as many people as possible.
On June 9, 2023, Darren was strapping down a load. He jumped up on the trailer to throw a strap across the top of the load, and passed out. Next thing he knew was he woke up on the ground, covered in blood. He had a pretty large and deep laceration on his left arm and his right arm was broken. Diagnosis if right arm is Humorous Fracture and Complete displacement of the bone out of the socket at his shoulder.
He received 13 stitches in his left arm. 2 internal and 11 external, and was transfered from Kansas down to Tulsa to wait for surgery on his right arm. As of today, surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 11:00. God willing he doesn't get bumped.
Darren is in extreme pain, and is in and out with all the pain medication they have him on.
This is/was bad, but it could have been so much worse. I'm so thankful that it was Darren that called me to tell me, not someone else calling to tell me.
Keep Darren and the rest of us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through whatever this is going to bring for us over the next few days, weeks, months.
