Sears Family

On Friday August 10th friends of ours Bob and Sheri Sears and their daughter Marissa Vardavas experienced a devastating event at their home in the Boardman Area.  Heavy rain and flooding had water leaking into their basement.  As Bob was checking into what was happening, their entire basement wall caved in and took their house off the foundation.  No one was injured and everyone was grateful.  We all kept assuring Bob and Sheri that it would be ok,  they just need to get their insurance company out and get estimates for repairs.  On August 13th the Sears were informed by the insurance company this would be considered damage from a flood and that they did not have flood insurance.   If you check your own insurance policies, most of us do not not have flood insurance and governmental flood insurance is usually not available in our area.  This family is devastated.  Bob and Sheri just purchased this home in March and Sheri lost her job at General Motors in June.  Any and all repairs on their home will be the responsibility of the Sears.  Bob and Sheri had to have all the utilities shut off that night on August 10th.  Their family can not even live in their home until it is at a point where the structure is safe and utilities can be turned back on.  If you are interested please consider helping Bob and Sheri.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
