Hi. My name is Nikki many of you know our wonderful girl Brooke.
If you're from our village in Aylesham then you may know Brooke from the time she spends with her grandma Marilyn Burrows who passed away in December.
Brooke has been diagnosed with a condition called chairi malformation and the neuro surgeons have decided she needs surgery. This will happen at Kings college hospital in Lonon and involves them removing some bone from the base of her brain and then inserting a graph to hopefully improve the CSF flow and stop her brain from pressing on her spinal cord, making her feel better.
As you can imagine the cost of being away from home and the travel, staying in London etc, creates extra costs that puts a strain on all. Along with this extra expense I will need to take unpaid time of work to be able to stay with Brooke at the hospital and to support her recovery. This is something that no one can really afford to do nowadays. So I'm asking and hoping that people who know us might help us to get a bit of money put aside so we can pay some of the essential bills for the time I have to take off to help make what will be a very stressful time a little bit less stressful. If you can't donate then a simple share would be very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read.
Update. Brooke's initial surgery in January was stopped due to them finding she had an undiagnosed heart condition. This has been investigated and she has 2 heart conditions one of which killed my son in 2015 and she will have heart ablation for this at a later date. Her brain surgery took place on 26th March. After a difficult recovery she was discharged but blue lighted back to kings later that day with fluid on the brain. She is still in Kings and is having her brain drained 9th March. This has had a massive financial impact on us with traveling up and down to swap over and also visits. Food for her and us staying with her plus work lost. Any help is appreciated.
