My name is Vicki Boxlietner, and I have started this campaign for Candace Picard. The money that I am hoping to raise, from your generosity is for her treatments that she has to endure due to just being diagnosed with colon cancer. The funds are needed rather quickly as she has absolutely no insurance, and the doctors and hospitals will not start her radiation and chemotherapy treatments without cash payments.
Candy and Mike had spent a fun and relaxing Valentine's day with us this year, making plans for exciting events that our happening in our lives.....as their daughter and my son have been together for almost 6 years, and have a beautiful daughter Lilliana who is 3. Their daughter Sera has been one of the most incredible blessing in my life. She is one of the most caring, loving girls you would ever want to meet. Sera learned this from her mom. Four days after Valentine's day, excited about the future of our kids, Candy was exhausted (and has been), suffering from pain in her stomach that she attributed to her gall bladder. However, on Thursday it became just a bit too much. She finally went to the hospital. Within hours she was undergoing blood transfusions, as her levels were critically low. The next morning she was scheduled for endoscopy tests of upper and lower intestines. By early evening on Friday an oncologist was in her room delivering the devasting news that she has a mass so large in her lower intestine that they cannot even operate at this time. He went on to tell her that she needed 2 months of chemotherapy and radiation, with the hopes of shrinking her tumor before they can even attempt surgery to remove the mass. After that point, they would then be able to make a treatment plan from there. The doctors sounded so optomistic and positive when explaining the treatment plan.. as long as they start right away agressively.
We all know how we would feel being given this news, and some of you have. How do you even process it. She needs a port, she needs further testing to just determine her stage of cancer, most of all she needs her treament to begin. Now think of how you would feel to be told we can't help you unless you pay us up front. Then to know you just do not have any funds to pay up front. The feelings must be unimaginable. The state is trying to work with her to get state insurance, but that can take up to 2 months, and then she has to hope she is approved.
She needs to start now. She has ALWAYS done for everyone, always. Her door has always been open to people in need. She works her ass of 50 hours+ a week to just get by. She was released from the hospital on Sunday, she was back to work Tuesday, because she has to.
Please, please help her. She is a mother of 6, a grandmother to 13, a wife, a sister, aunt, and a friend. She matters! She needs us. I know you hear even 5.00 will help, it is true. I don't care if it is a dollar, please help us. Please. She would do it for you.....
