Fighting for Tyler
Donation protected
On Saturday, February 1st, Tyler Baxter was taking down his Christmas lights and fell backwards from the roof. He landed flat on the cement patio striking his head with the ladder coming down on top of him. He was taken to the Tooele hospital by ambulance and then immediately life flighted to the University of Utah hospital due to the extent of his injuries. Tyler was rushed into the Nuero Critical Care Unit where they found multiple sites of bruising and bleeding in the right and left frontal lobes of his brain, in addition to a skull fracture and occipital lobe fracture. After several hours of managing the bleed with medication, the doctors felt surgery was the only option for containing the bleed and removed a portion of his skull to repair the bleed and relieve the pressure. The surgery was successful and the brain responded as well as we could have hoped. However, Tyler is currently in a medically-induced coma and will remain this way for an undetermined amount of time to allow his brain to rest and heal from the fall and surgery. He’s been officially diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury and we don’t yet know the extent of the brain damage.
Tyler’s recovery is going to be ongoing and while the doctors are hopeful, the location of the damage indicates that he’ll have a very long, difficult road ahead with months of physical therapy and rehabilitation.
We are so grateful for your prayers and fasts on his behalf. His family has been overwhelmed with the love and support they’ve received, and feel your genuine care and concern for Tyler. However, they also need help with medical and everyday expenses as Tyler is the sole provider and is unable to work for the foreseeable future.
We’re estimating that their initial needs will be upwards of $250,000. Please know that any contribution, big or small, will be extremely helpful and so deeply appreciated.
