We are thrilled to share that Rockville Centre's Middle School Robotics Club, the South Side Spartans, have qualified for the 2017 VEX World Championship taking place in Louisville, Kentucky . 1400 teams from 50 Countries around the world have qualified to compete on April 22 - 26. It's the worlds largest and most prestigious robotics competition.
We are so proud of our kids, who worked together as a team to design, build and program their robot from the ground up. It instills a passion which encourages them to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) related careers. You can watch the YouTube video recap from last years trip to the worlds.
Unfortunately, the Rockville Centre School District is not able to fund this years trip to the world championships. Each family is paying $700 to offset their child's hotel, meals and transportation but not everyone can afford it. We have been selling candy and other various brick a brack but it's just not enough.
We need your help. Please support the SSMS Spartans so everyone can attend. 2016 SSMS Worlds recap
