Bob Forberg’s family is creating this account to help offset the expenses he’ll be facing as he enters the fight of his life. Anything you are able to give is so greatly appreciated.
Bob was hospitalized in February for pneumonia, during which time they discovered a mass in his left lung. After an extended and very confusing hospital stay, we were told it was most likely not cancer and they sent him home with antibiotics, deciding not to perform a biopsy.
After complications with his eye weeks later, a mass was discovered behind his left eye as well, by the doctors in Iowa City. A subsequent biopsy was performed on his lung, and we were given the diagnosis: it is cancer after all. Bob has faced several recent emergencies, including a current hospitalization during which they removed almost 2 liters of fluid from his lungs. The doctors are working on a treatment plan for both the immediate time and the long-term.
What we know: Bob has a malignant mass in his lung and his eye. Radiation treatment needs to begin as soon as possible to hopefully shrink the tumor in his eye and save his vision. When the doctors know more details about the cancer, treatment elsewhere will begin immediately. He has a team of doctors in Iowa City and will also be receiving care here in the Quad Cities.
What your donations will be used for: Any portions of medical bills not covered by insurance, transportation expenses and temporary stays in Iowa City.
Thank you so much for giving and sharing Bob’s story.
