The money raised will be used to purchase signage and needed maintenance for the SSG Daniel Busch Memorial Highway. The location for this is the stretch of Hwy 33 between Portage, WI and Baraboo, WI.
Dan served in the US Army and was an Elite member of 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta. Task Force RANGER. On October 3, 1993 in Mogadishu, Somalia, while gallantly defending the crew of a downed Blackhawk helicopter (call sign Super 61) against a numerically superior enemy force, Staff Sergeant Busch was mortally wounded. This was depicted in the movie Blackhawk Down. Dan was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his actions. Dan was 25 years old.
Growing up locally, Dan traveled frequently down this stretch of highway. Whether he was trapping, hunting, visiting family or just chumming around with his buddies.
