Help Tyler Stay in His New Home!!!
Final Update: Thank you for all the donations and support! Funding for Tyler’s
new placement has come through and
donations are no longer needed. He is
doing well. It does not look like he will
return to his apartment, by choice. He is
in a loving and supportive environment
now. I added a few pictures so everyone can see how much he is enjoying the
animal therapy at his new placement.
Thank you again for all the support!!!
This is my son Tyler. Tyler has autism,
developmental delays, a life threatening endocrine disorder, and is legally blind. Tyler used to live in his apartment with the assistance of support staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The night of April 12th changed everything. That night my son got into a vehicle with his paid staff. After investigation by multiple agencies, it has been determined that 3 of his staff members decided to race cars down Old Stage Road with him as a passenger. The car Tyler was in lost control and crashed at 90 mph. Tyler had to be cut out of the car and sustained a concussion, bi- lateral contusions to his lungs, a bruise to his chest wall, and a broken rib. Tyler needed 2 days of hospital care for his injuries. Unfortunately, he remains in the hospital. As the supported living agency and staff responsible for his accident have been removed from providing his care, Tyler can not go home. He is currently stuck at Natividad hospital until proper care can be found for him. Multiple agencies are attempting to find him care but continue to come up short of the 24 hour care he needs. Not only has Tyler been traumatized by the original accident, he continues to be traumatized by the lack placement back into his home. I’m looking for any available agency or individuals that have experience in the following areas: respite care, independent living skills, supported living, home health care, and behavioral support. If you or any agency that you know of have any of these skill sets and availability please contact San Andreas Regional Center in Salinas. Any help would be immensely appreciated. All funds will go directly toward Tyler’s needs and care. Thank you so much!
