                  The Carlos Family could use our help.

Lionel Carlos has spent way too much time in the hospital and away from his beautiful family.  His wife Dina has worked hard to keep things going in the household, and Gideon and Graciela have missed a lot of time with their awesome Dad. 

Lionel was diagnosed in January of 2014 with Guillaine- Barre Syndrome and spent several months in the hospital and rehabilitation.  He contracted a life-threatening secondary infection while in hospital care that prolonged his time in the hospital, and away from his home, family and job at Catholic Charities.

In the summer of 2014, Dina found herself requiring surgery on her neck, a result of the physical strain of helping Lionel during his physical rehab.

In October of 2014 Lionel was finally well enough to return to work, but the road to doing all things as he'd had before was still being traveled slowly.

In January of 2015, things took a wrong turn for Lionel again, when he started feeling familiar symptoms and his condition began regressing.  Over several weeks, he spent more time in the hospital and then at home with visiting medical personnel to administer his medication and to again, begin the slow physical rehab process. 

But just after Easter, Lionel had to be readmitted into the hospital and has spent the last several weeks in ICU.  There have been more than their share of critical and frightening moments.

To be with Lionel and help him fight this battle, Dina has taken an unpaid leave of absence from her job too, and as expected, the bills (medical and otherwise) are not going away anytime soon. 

Lionel has now spent the better part of the last sixteen months either in the hospital or rehab.  This dear family could use a helping hand.
