Back in 2011 I was heavily into endurance sports and training for races. Often my body was in some pain from recovery from over-exertion. One of those pains was radiating from the lower left quadrant of my back. I thought it was from over training again. Once the pain hit excruciating level I made my way into the ER. After a few hours of tests and imaging I was given the news that I had a tumor on my left kidney and it was cancerous. My Urologist and Nephrologist agreed that it was small and easy to eradicate. So, the put my on an a targeted therapy of Nexavar to hinder the growth of the cells. Unfortunately, this did not work as expected and the tumor grew at furocious rate. Radiation didn't help either. Finally, I was in so much pain it was decided that I had to have emergency surgery (Nephrectomy - https://tinyurl.com/y8tyrgsz )
 to save the kidney if possible.  Each slice of the tumor removed was cancerous, according to pathology. A few hours later I woke to find out the kidney was gone.

I am currently cancer free, but the years since have been a battle with related issues (over 25 hospitalizations) and expensive medicines with deteriorating finances. I took a medical leave of abscence from the software company I was working at in Chicago, but that has lapsed as well as my insurance. I am in urgent need of starting a new expensive medication (they all are costly), paying toward some bills so I can maintain service and to move into a simple place so I can get back to work coding away normal insured contributor of society!
