Sherie's Spring Semester at Sea
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Sherie Salomonsson and I am a junior at University of the Pacific studying Business Marketing with a minor in Pre-law. I have been accepted for an opportunity of a lifetime to study abroad with Semester At Sea. I will be traveling in the Spring of 2015, for 112 days, visiting 12 different countries and 15 cities.
I have already been awarded $6,000 through scholarships and saved $11,000 by working during the school year and through an internship I had this past summer. Yet, as we all know, both school and traveling are expensive, and doing them simultaneously will certainly add up.
The reason I am willing to pay all this money for four months, is because Semester at Sea incorporates classroom learning with cultural exploration. Social entrepreneurship is also one of Semester at Sea’s most esteemed programs, where students can partake in case studies in the countries they visit, and gain hands-on, practical experience with real entrepreneurs and global experts on social innovation.
For those of you who do not know me, my passion for social entrepreneurship has been the most influential factor in my college experience thus far; allowing me to work with Fair Trade USA and a 501c3 company called Runa. Both businesses do well for themselves, while also doing well for others by using innovative solutions to solve some of the worlds most pressing issues like environmental degradation and world hunger. My goal once I graduate is to help improve the economic and social imbalance that exists in our world today, but first I need to understand the world around me.
That’s where Semester at Sea comes in, and thats exactly why I am asking for any kind of donation to help make this semester a reality for me.
Here's a brief overview of the expenses:
Tuition, Room & Board $22,000
Airfare, Visas & Immunizations $ 3,000
Textbooks $500
Personal Travel Expenses $ 3,000
Fuel Supplement Charge $ 1,000
__________________________________________
Total: $29,500
Even if we are not able to reach the $4,500 goal, I will be so grateful and forever appreciative for any amount that is donated to me.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me! I would love to chat with you about my voyage.
Thank you!
