April 4, 2020:
As we all know that healthcare providers and emergency responders are putting their lives at risk to save our communities during this COVID-19 pandemic. There is a great need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is necessary for our frontline healthcare providers to protect themselves, so they can fight for our community. Our goal is to distribute PPE such as N95 and surgical face masks to our heroes. We also aim to provide a fabric cotton mask to people living in underserved communities because CDC has recently changed their guideline and now recommends Americans to voluntarily wear a basic cloth or fabric face mask when they go out in public places, such as grocery stores.
There is a shred of new evidence that people who do not appear to be sick can still spread coronavirus to others, thus, it is important to follow CDC’s new guidelines on wearing masks in public places. However, there is currently a limited supply of fabric masks in the United States, especially those living in the underserved community are facing challenges in acquiring the masks. We hope to reach out to those who need it the most.
Bhagawat Phuyal, one of the founders of Smile Homecare LLC and Pittsburgh based young entrepreneur has been working tirelessly with the hope to supply PPE for healthcare workers and mask for community members. With his business connection to a company that produces PPE, he has already ordered 1000 N95, 10,000 three layers surgical masks, 100 smart non-contact forehead body scanning infrared thermometers, and 20,000 fabric cotton masks. He has already personally paid over $20,000 to order this equipment. He has already spent $10,000 separately to purchase and distribute 528 bottles of hand sanitizers, 100 N95, 200 surgical face masks, 10 boxes of gloves, toilet paper and groceries worth of over $200.
We are currently communicating and evaluating local organizations that will help distribute this equipment to appropriate health care institutes. Our goal is to distribute PPE to underserved institutions and fabric masks to people living in disadvantaged communities in Pittsburgh with the hope to expand around the nations.
We urge everyone to support our goal and follow Bhagawat’s examples. Bhagawat’s generosity is inspirational. He is willing to bear the difference if we do not get enough donations. If we reach our goal of raising $20,000, he is willing to personally add $5,000. Let’s help each other! Let's be safe!
100% of your donation will directly go into the purchase and delivery of the supplies.
