I am preparing to have back surgery due to complications with both Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have been off work since June 2, 2025, seeking less invasive treatments to avoid surgery to no avail. I am unable to perform my normal job as it requires extensive standing, walking, and sitting up, which causes excruciating pain. I have exhausted my annual leave and sick leave, so I am in a leave without pay status right now. I am requesting assistance with essentials like rent, utilities, food, and medications, as I no longer have my regular income to rely upon. I have applied for SSI Disability Benefits, but the process is long and tedious, and Texas has no short-term disability benefits because we have no state tax.

I will be managing my recovery with very little support and will have to be off until the end of January 2026, provided there are no complications.
