My Sister's Housewarming Gift
Donation protected
Hi everyone, it's Rhonda and I am asking for your help. Those of you who know me know that I seldom ask for anything -but today is much bigger than me. My sister, Bonita, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer last month. Bonita is 48 years old and not a smoker. The doctor said that she is 1 of the 10% of non-smokers that unfortunately get this disease. He said this is a growing trend in women who do not smoke. I cannot tell you how heartbroken we are. We love her and believe that God is a healer and trust His plan. While Bonita was in the hospital, she told me that she wanted to move back into our West Toledo home where she used to live. The house has been sitting empty for the last 4 years and is in desperate need of repairs in order for her and her 3 children to return to the home. In order for her to return home, we will need to make approximately $15,000 in repairs with mold and asbestos removal a critical piece of those repairs. For a person with lung cancer, there cannot be any traces of mold in that house. With a new furnace, electrical updates, window repair, a roof on the 2nd story back porch, garage repairs, etc... the house can be the home that she desperately wants.
When someone gets such a diagnosis, there is not a lot to do outside of praying and supporting. Our family would love to be able to grant her wish of returning to the home that we all loved and holds decades of memories for our entire family.
Our hope is to get the home, "move-in ready" by May1st. That would mean that we need to get contractors paid as soon as possible so that they can complete the projects by move-in day.
Please consider making a donation today, you have no idea how much this would mean to both my sister and our family. If you are not comfortable donating through Gofundme, please inbox me for Paypal options or for our address if you prefer sending a check.
Thanks so much for your consideration, caring, love and support. If you have no money to give, please consider praying for my sister and our family -we need it.
Oh, and please, please, please share/forward this information to other people that you know will help.
God bless.
PS, if you are a family member or friend that is just finding out about this, I am so sorry, we tried our best -it's been difficult.
