Chad and Ashley Hoffman

On Thursday, February 25th, Chad, his wife Ashley, and their son Liam welcomed twin boys at just 27 and a half weeks.  James Joseph (J.J.) weighed in at 1 lb. 14 oz., and Sean Wrigley (Wrigley) at just 300 grams.  Both babies were immediately admitted to the NICU.  Despite the best efforts of the medical staff at Johns Hopkins, and one hell of a fight from the little guy, Wrigley passed a short time later.  J.J. continues to battle and has made progress thus far but has a long road ahead of him.

As Chad and Ashley try to deal with the loss of a child, the highly sensitive nature of having a baby in the NICU, and ensuring that Liam is ok and well cared for throughout this ordeal, the bills have already started to pile up.  They are looking at bills for the births, the NICU stay, which will be extensive for J.J., the arrangements for Wrigley, not to mention all of the other expenses they will incur from being in Baltimore, away from home.  J.J. will be in the NICU at Johns Hopkins for many weeks still to come, which means Chad and Ashley will be boarding in Baltimore for the foreseeable future.  They hope to be able to stay at Ronald McDonald House or The Children’s House, however until a room opens up they are forced to stay in a hotel for an unknown length of time.  They have daily parking fees, at both the hotel and the hospital, food expenses, and gas expenses as Chad will soon begin to commute between Alexandria and Baltimore frequently for work.

The stresses of their situation are so unbelievably overwhelming, without having the burden of wondering how they are going to pay for it all.  Right now, their focus needs to be on their children, not their finances.  We are asking for your help in contributing financially to help sustain the family during this difficult time.  Chad and Ashley have done so much for their family, friends, and the Carl Sandburg community, and we know a lot of people have been looking for ways to help.  We hope to be able to come together to support them and this site is meant to be a way to do that.

Thank you for all of your support for our family.  We really appreciate it and we know Chad and Ashley will as well.
