My daughter Kirsty was born in December 1980 and grew up into a beautiful, caring and giving person always looking out for others. In 2000 my first grandson Kieran was born followed by Rhys in 2005 and Lily in 2014 .
Kirsty was diagnosed with Breast cancer at just 37 yrs of age and underwent vigorous Chemo and radio therapy.
Over the next two years Kirsty had a mastectomy and reconstruction began, completion has now been put on hold....
Two and a half years later Kirsty was given the news of NED (no evidence of disease) However, only 5 months later following a CT and MRI scan came the devastating news of secondary lung mets.
Treatment restarted in April 2020 with these being lifelong treatments. However, on the first treatment Kirsty had a reaction, her body went into shock and treatment had to be stopped.
In June 2020 treatment re commenced, albeit the same treatment but at a lower dosage in the hope her body could cope with it.
And so began our journey of researching other pioneering treatments that Could give Kirsty a better quality of life and more time to see her children grow, the youngest is just 5 yrs old .
We found a clinic in Newport Gwent (The Rutherford Cancer Centre ) A pioneering private clinic that offers Proton Beam therapy and immunotherapy to cancer patients, which we hope Kirsty could be offered and benefit from.
Whilst we do not know how long Kirsty will be with us we need to act as urgently as possible in order to hopefully get the treatment she so desperately needs and would appreciate any financial support however little at this time.
