My name is Shawn.

I am 34 years old.

Last year, I was the proud owner of a lawn care company and suffered a cardiac event while helping out a friend with property maintenance as they had their own medical issues they were working through. Long story short, I wound up in the E.R. and gained no relevant answers as to what caused my issues and a pile of medical expenses. For the next 6 months, I slowly recovered and was finally back to being able to work effectively, though I lost my company in the process as I could barely even stand without getting winded. I was given the opportunity to recover by a wonderful man who gave me a job so that I could keep a roof over my family's head and my own, and forced me to take it easy, always keeping a watchful eye on me. I'm a proud man, so I struggled through and was able to finally cover those bills myself bit by bit and finally finished them by selling my old equipment. Sadly, the man who gave me a chance passed away unexpectedly on Dec 2 from cardiac issues. In hindsight, I believe he took pity on me because he was living with something similar but never told me... Either way, with him having passed, my prospects to be able to support myself at this point are limited and uncertain.

On Christmas Eve 2025, the same symptoms came back and they were far worse. I spent Christmas Day in the E.R. and now am living with a heart monitor for the next 7 days. I also have even worse medical bills but I at least have an answer: I have an electrical abnormality in my heart. All signs point to this becoming a lifelong issue that I will have to deal with. There are options to manage it, and options to effectively cure it, but all of them are likely out of my reach as things stand. As I said, I'm a proud man, and don't like asking for help, but this time, I don't have a choice. If anyone is able to help, I would be sincerely grateful. All funds raised will be used to cover current medical expenses and to set up a cushion for future needs, costs, and other expenses as needed. If this drive ends up heavily over the goal I set, I intend to donate whatever I don't need to people who are in the same boat I am. I've never asked for charity before because in my mind, there are so many people that need it more, but this time... and it pains me to say it... I'm one of them. Every penny counts, and every one of them is a blessing. Just know that I am grateful for anything that can be offered, no matter how much it may be.
