Fire Fund

Hello, my name is Jennifer Doucett-Vallejos….Two weeks ago, we lost everything we owned due to a devastating fire in our home.  We barely escaped with only what we had worn to bed the night before.  Even our vehicle’s were burned to the point that they are inoperable…Unfortunately, I was laid off of work due to COVID and could not afford to keep our homeowners insurance and had to drop full coverage on our vehicles…

A few years ago we (My husband and I) were  involved in a horrific auto accident were we were run off a mountain road in Colorado by a truck pulling a large cattle hauling trailer.  That section of highway had recently been repaved, but the guardrails hadn’t been replaced yet, leaving little to no room for error.  As a result we were sent flying off the road, and crashed 53 feet down the side of a mountain, nearly missing a pile of granite boulders.  My husband’s side of the truck made impact first, so he sustained most of the injuries.  When we made impact, five of his ribs were broken off  causing three of them to puncture his lungs. He was bleeding internally for a week and we were unaware because the “Heart of the Rockies” regional medical center did not pick this up on his x- rays or his cat-scans…He had to undergo 4 surgeries…. 2 of the latter surgeries were thoracotomies…(which is the most difficult and dangerous surgery known to medicine).  The first thoracotomy he underwent has a survival rate of 7.4% …the second one, he had only a 3.7%.chance for survival, but somehow he managed to pull through a 18 hour surgery… He is now fully disabled, and still has to undergo more sureries to close the wound.
  As a result of loosing both of our vehicles, we are left scramling to find rides barow car's and pretty much beg for a ride to go to doctors appointments, and to  feed our animals, (who remain on the property.)

  Due to the pandemic, I myself was out of a job… not able to work, our finances took a huge hit.  We were not able to aford insurance for the home, as a result we have nothing to help us rebuild. At the moment, we are staying with family, however that help is quickly coming to a end. We will soon have no where to live, and with that kind of out come the health of my husband will suffer. We have all been through so much doing the pandemic many of us have lost peope we love, lots have lost there homes to foreclosure, or other events.  There’s help for thoes who suffered these loses during the pandemic,  however there is not much out there for loss due to a fire.

   

  We humbly ask you for any assistance you can provide in helping us rebuild our home.  Even a donation of an old unused truck would be huge in helping us remove the disaster that has become of our home…Any help with this would be a blessing, and would be greatly appreciated… Please help us if you can, so we can start to rebuild our lives.
