Relief for Sri Lanka Bombing Victims

Donation protected
To those who have so generously stepped out to support those in need in Sri Lanka, thank you. I am continuing to research the most reliable destination for these funds. Please continue to share this campaign and emphasize the continued need for relief efforts on the ground. It has been 2 weeks since these horrific attacks, and we cannot forgot those who continue to suffer! Our last day for accepting donations will be Friday May 17th.

What Happened?

Today in Sri Lanka on April 21st Easter Sunday a state of emergency has been declared. Six simultaneous bombings have taken place in 3 churches( St Anthony's Shrine, Zion church and St.Sebastians) and 3 hotels( Cinnamon Grande, Shang-Ri La and Kingsbury). The bombings that took place at the churches were targeted towards people congregated for Easter Sunday. The hotel bombings have targeted tourists and foreigners on travels.

Update: The Eighth Bomb has taken place after the six simultaneous ones earlier. The s seventh bombing targeted Dehiwala Zoo while the eighth one took place at a locals home.

The reported casualties are currently 290 deaths and 500 injured.

Who am I?

My name is Ishini Weerasinghe, I lived in Sri Lanka till I was 8 and then moved to Canada where I currently reside. I remember being raised in the war torn country it was, I felt i didn't want history to repeat itself and decided to make a go fund me in the moment. When the tragic event took place I felt the urge to do something about it because it's the home I love and cherish, my heart yearns for my family and friends effected back home. I am also a social media influencer on instagram(@ishiniw) and decided to put it into good use by raising funds and bringing awareness among my following on my media.

Relief Fund

All funds raised, except any GoFundMe processing fees, will be donated directly to the victims of the bombing to help support people affected. To provide general help and support to the families of the victims after this terrible crime.

The target is set to $100,000, hoping to exceed this goal and distribute funds among the casualties needing support.

The sooner we raise funds the faster we can support the victims affected by the devastating event.

Dispersing Funds

To everyone who has expressed concern about the Minister being the beneficiary for the allocated funds, I have instead decided to partnered with Go Fund Me to find an alternative by looking into organizations together with them.

Donors, we want you to know your opinions matter and would love it if you would like to share any organizations that you would like us to take into consideration. [email redacted]

I would like to express I am receiving a high volume in emails and will do my best to get back to you.

Please be patient with us!

I will be withdrawing the funds once given approval and with be delivering the funds in increments of $10,000 to each organization to be chosen, to assist Sri Lankans who have lost their loved ones, children who have lost parents and spouses who cant support themselves because of losing there significant others

Thank you to everyone who reached out to help, I believe we have enough people to take into consideration for our team, thank you to those who did apply. For any questions contact [email redacted] !
