Hi, I am Muqaddasa- a Sri Lankan living in the UK. Sri Lanka is my home and over the past weekend, Cyclone Ditwah caused floods and landslides almost across the entire country. This has claimed the lives of 627 people. 192 people are missing and over 2 million people are affected as of today (07.12.2025) and the numbers will continue to rise as rescue efforts are underway.
People have lost their loved ones, homes, livelihoods, vehicles overnight. Over 200 roads have been damaged, making access to certain areas especially in the Central Province (Kandy and surrounding areas) very difficult which is why I've decided to donate to verified organisations/ individuals on the ground working hard to help those affected.
Many organisations on the ground are working in various ways- providing aid (dy rations, clothing, medication, sanitary products), involved in providing shelter and rebuilding houses to those that have lost their homes, and also rescue and aid of animals.
Even though the cyclone has passed,many areas are still under the threat of landslides as monsoon season begins in some parts of the country. Cyclone Ditwah has left widespread destruction, devastation and loss, but your donation can help give hope. It can help provide urgent support and also pave way for long term restoration, and support, which is why I have added a few more orgs.

100% of your donation will reach those direly affected, all bank fees due to international transfers will be handled on my end.
Organisations/ Individuals I will be donating to:
- Vikalpani Women's Centre (Nishanthika Dilrukshi)- providing dry food and medication to landslide affected families in Nawalapitiya and Passara- areas that have not received any support yet
- Heart to Heart Lanka- supporting women affected by the disaster, people from marginalised communities and those with various special needs in Jaffna, Batticaloa and Hatton. It also provides shelter and relocation in Nugegoda
- Ammerun Nisha- providing support to people from villages of Kunjukulam, Madukkarai and Maruthamadu in Mannar who have evacuated due to floods. Support via food provision, medical supplies and women's sanitary items
- Sisterhood Initiative- supporting urgent aid response in parts of Sri Lanka by donating diapers, sanitary napkins and other essentials
- Mannar Women's Development Federation- supporting especially women of marginalised communities affected in Mannar and also others who are in inaccessible areas
- Muslim Women’s Development Trust, Puttalam- supporting the women and girls they support through their work, enabling the rebuilding of office spaces and resoration of livelihoods
