Sri Lanka Crisis Relief

To every Sri Lankan living abroad, to every tourist who has visited our beautiful island, to friends who care - Sri Lanka needs you. This fundraiser has no political affiliations, and all proceeds will go directly to go local organisations supporting people of all ethnic backgrounds.

 

Sri Lanka is currently in a state of emergency with 13+ hour power cuts, a completely depleted economy and skyrocketing prices. Sri Lankan families cannot afford basic essential items, and proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards grassroots organisations working around the clock to provide food, dry rations and other essential supplies to families across the island.

 

There have been protests in every corner of the island against corruption and starvation against this unfolding humanitarian and economic crisis . While Police have been arresting peaceful protestors, hundreds of lawyers have been voluntarily representing these protestors and activists. Please donate to this fundraiser to help our motherland.

FAQ:
This fundraiser is organised by Devni Wimalasena (Juris Doctor Candidate, Melbourne Law School + Gender Equality Activist) and Thenu Herath (CEO, Oaktree Australia), both of whom live in Melbourne and are of Sri Lankan background. 

All funds will be directly transferred to the above mentioned organisations with receipts filed on a public Google drive. The above listed organisations will be using the funds to provide emergency meals and dry ration packs to individuals in need across the island.
