Sri Lanka Church Bombing Victim Support

As Sri Lankans we were all shocked beyond belief by the horror that unravelled in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
We share our sorrow in numerous vigils with our fellow citizens in our homeland. Now it is time to help rebuild their lives and reconstruct the damaged churches in Sri Lanka.

On April 21st Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka a state of emergency has been declared. Six simultaneous bombings have been blown in 3 churches( St Anthony's Shrine, Zion Church and St. Sebastian's Church) and few hotels( Cinnamon Grande, Shang-Ri La and Kingsbury). The bombings  were targeted towards people congregated for Easter Sunday masses. The hotel bombings have planned to destroy the tourist industry thereby destabilizing the country's economy. Majority of victims were worshippers from Sri Lanka's Christian community.

The reported casualties are nearly 300 people killed and injuring more than 500 from at least eight countries.

The Toronto Mahavihara (Canadian Government approved Registered Charity 119266898) &  West End Buddhist Cultural and Meditation Centre (Canadian Government approved Registered Charity891708166) along with Canada Sri Lanka Catholic Association Ontario  are planning to launch this campaign to raise funds to help the victims who are affected in Easter Sunday Bombing Victim Support in Sri Lanka.

The funds collected through this GoFundMe campaign will be transfered from the Toronto Mahavihara Society  and be deposited to the Special Account opened by His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, (http://www.archdioceseofcolombo.com), Sri Lankan cardinal of the Catholic Church who is leading the rehabilitating work.  The cardinal's office is in direct contact with the Toronto Mahavihara Society.
