Hi, my name is Sohum Kapoor, and I am the founder of Say The Word, a youth-led nonprofit organization focused on supporting those battling cancer and their loved ones. Three of my loved ones have been diagnosed with cancer, and I have lost both of my grandparents in the battle. Having experienced the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis, I knew I wanted to do something meaningful to help others going through the same journey.

At "Say The Word," I have begun donating satin pillowcases through wig programs for individuals diagnosed with cancer. From a Wellspring wellness center in Ontario to Tufts Medical Cancer Center in Boston, these pillowcases have aided in alleviating physical discomforts like scalp irritation and hair loss for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

A cancer diagnosis has its repercussions beyond the patient. I was 13, learning algebra for the first time when all of a sudden I had to learn to navigate my mother's life-changing illness. There were limited resources that made the experience less overwhelming and confusing. Through Say The Word I aim to make that journey easier by developing emotional and practical support for youth who are walking the same path I did.
