The Socialist Rifle Association (SRA) was formed in 2018 as an organization dedicated to educating on and advocating for all aspects of self and community defense. Over the past two years, our chapters throughout the country have grown tremendously as more and more Americans seek an inclusive and welcoming community that can introduce them to firearm training and safety. In addition to these efforts, we also pride ourselves on conducting effective and empathetic mutual aid projects to help those in our communities who need it most. You may have seen some of our previous fundraisers gathering money for members of our communities suffering from homelessness, natural disasters, and hunger.
This fundraiser is focused on the purchase of land and subsequent construction of an official SRA shooting range located in the Northeast region of the United States. Those of you familiar with firearm laws will already know that being a gun owner in this area of the country comes with unique difficulties. This overly complex legal situation, when combined with the machismo and reactionary nature of American gun culture, creates a situation in which many people who want to learn firearm safety do not feel comfortable in doing so. Nobody in the LGBTQ+ or BIPOC communities should need to put up with a range that sells confederate flags or is frequented by those who believe they do not deserve their rights - or worse, their lives. Recently, we have had one of our instructors banned from their local gun club for teaching state-mandated training programs to those who require the ability to defend themselves the most. If you are in a comfortable financial situation and believe that everyone in this country deserves the option of a safe and welcoming place to learn firearm safety and train in self-defense, please consider donating whatever you can.
If you have further concerns, please see some of our Frequently Asked Questions on our website at www.socialistra.org/rangefaq.pdf. We will be keeping you updated here and on social media throughout the course of this fundraiser.
Note: Contributions to the SRA and/or SRA affiliated projects are not tax deductible.
