Vance is the hardest working man I've ever known. I've always admired how much ambition he has and I'm so proud of him. Watching my husband struggle to walk this past year has been breaking my heart. What is going on?! We went to doctors, had xrays and MRI done of legs and back but the doctors couldn't figure out why he had so much trouble getting his balance and legs to work. Finally we met with his neurologist told her our story of what a hard worker he is. Within a week she had his neck and brain MRI done and told us he has many lesions on his spine and brain indicating multiple sclerosis. Omg. My superman is broken. No cure. Thank God no cancer though!
The realisation of knowing now what is wrong and that he has to give up a career of hard work delivering radiology equipment to clinics, cancer centers and hospitals all over the country must come to an end. He had so much pride of working hard and doing a good job. He also got disturbed at the thought of not being able to be of good help any more when he would see a car wreck. How selfless he can be! To feel sad that he can't physically assist during emergencies. He has such a big heart. I've always bragged on him of how much he helps strangers and family. From pulling over to change a tire for someone to putting out car fires, grass fire etc. Or fixing a ladies car stranded on the toll road in oklahoma even though we were in a hurry to make a delivery on time. Pulling over on a back road in virginia to help police move a tree out of the road after a tornado had come through. So many stories i could go on and on! And he does things Just because he loves to be helpful!
He now uses a wheelchair or walker to help him walk on days his ms flares up. But it seems so far following a new diet is helping with his symptoms a little more.
Stress and stressful situations cause flare ups too. I want to help him de-stress a little. Our savings are spent. We sold our camper among a few things so he could stay off work long enough to get adjusted to his meds and rethink our future. The meds for his disease is a little over $5000 a month our insurance won't cover but the company who makes them have been so helpful and kind to us it's another blessing! We are going back to work now and going to haul freight that doesnt require hard physical work, just driving wich he hates because he finds just sitting and driving is boring lol
He feels hard on himself that we don't have the money to help anyone and doesn't have the physical ability to do much but he really tries. A few people sent me msges about go fund me page. I thought,no, others need this more than i do.i will go to work and work hard to help my husband. And i am. But i thought, what the heck. Give this a try and see if i can help cheer Vance up a little! So firstly,I want to raise some money to help stop his brothers foreclosure. that will help his stress of not worrying about his family! His brother has struggled a lot these past few years as most of us do run into hard times some time in our lives. And to raise money to put a down payment for a modified semi truck set up so Vance may continue to drive and a lift for a wheelchair to get in and out.
I'm so proud of who he has become and who he is. He is eating healthy and taking care of himself so well now. If anyone deserves help, its Vance Batson. I know he doesn't like to be bragged on but he deserves it!
