Help Amanda Rebuild After Devastating Fire

Donation protected
Amanda Mohamed just lost everything in a four-alarm fire that consumed an apartment building in Squirrel Hill on Tuesday, September 9. Amanda is 24, a recent Penn State graduate. In spring 2024, Amanda served as the student marshal for the College of the Liberal Arts commencement, as well as being a Schreyer Scholar, Paterno Fellow, and member of the Presidential Leadership Academy. A first-gen college student, Amanda lost her father to cancer while she was in college and recently placed her mother in an assisted living facility. Our family was just finishing helping her clear out her family home and had just brought all of her family's special possessions and documents to her apartment last week.

Please help to be Amanda's safety net at a time when she was already mourning a loss of family. She will need to replace all of her possessions plus make a deposit on a new place to live.

This link tells many of the ways that anyone who meets Amanda finds her to be one of the most amazing, resilient, brilliant human beings: https://www.psu.edu/news/liberal-arts/story/amanda-mohamed-selected-liberal-arts-college-marshal-spring-commencement

The donations will go directly to Amanda's bank account. My daughter and Amanda are long friends, and Amanda is like another daughter to us. We have been helping her with this and previous transitions.
