Chantal has Cancer

Hello family & friends, loved ones & those that may not even know our family…
Recently, our friend and sister, Chantal, received some difficult news and was diagnosed with Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma, a rare, malignant cancer that forms in the soft tissues of the body. Over the past several years, Chantal has experienced chronic pain and other health problems that were repeatedly misdiagnosed. Then in February, after a doctor’s visit and referral to Rush University Medical Center, a CT scan revealed a very large mass in her abdomen. The tumor is pressing up against 4 vital organs including her kidney which is wrapped up inside this mass, making it a BIG bitch to deal with, but not an impossible defeat!
For those of you who know Chantal, you know that she is not only a friend and sister but a daughter, a wife, a mother and an all-around badass. She is ambitious, creative AND we all know a big time fan of dogs. Being a mother and pillar of support for her two amazing children, Vann (6yrs) and Goldie (2yrs), the following weeks and months ahead, Chantal and her family are sure to go through one hell of a ride and we are reaching out on their
behalf to gather as much support for them as we can.
Chantal does have the opportunity to seek a second opinion with Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. She is currently awaiting further test results and will be making some decisions in terms of her care team and course of treatment. The next few months will have her very busy with appointments, tests, scans and more, which means Chantal won’t be able to work. We are asking for donations to support medical expenses, mortgage payments, and childcare to help the kids stay active so mama can rest. It is extremely important to Chantal that throughout all of this nonsense, her two kids are loved, supported, and have so much fun with the people they love that they will always look back at this time and remember those good times. Also, the family dog, the very good boy, Roy, because Chantal really loves dogs.
As if all of this wasn’t enough to handle, this past month also brought news that her Mother, Sandra, was diagnosed with cancer; early-stage Carcinoma of her lung. This dual diagnosis has ironically strengthened the bond between mother and daughter as they fight this fight together, even though they are 200 miles apart. Your donations will also allow Chantal and her family the support they need to find as much time as possible to spend together from Chicago to Michigan and back.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story. Please post/share to spread the word and outreach. Your love and support are so appreciated. We will keep her story updated here as she journeys through kicking cancer’s ass.
Please check back later for more on other ways to donate.
Much love, Chantal's support team.
