Thursday, October 23, 2025 we had to make the tough decision to take our daughter, Christen, off life support and allow her to fly like a free bird just like her favorite song and just as we did her younger brother 2 short years ago. She had been battling several illnesses for the last few years and her body was just too tired to go on.

Unfortunately now I have to ask for help with her funeral expenses. I want her little girl, Laney, who is only 10 years old, and her two sons to have the opportunity to say goodbye to their mom. Her life partner, Doug, and her 2 older sons, Gatlin and Dylan, along with her dad and I, are trying to get together what we can, but funeral costs are way beyond what we can gather together. Tragedy has now taken two of our 4 children.

Christen’s wish was to be cremated. She was claustrophobic and hated enclosed spaces. She was adamant about not being buried. She always joked she didn’t want the zombies to get to her brain. She was a character.

We would like to have a showing first before she is cremated, so those loved ones she left behind can say goodbye. To me there is something about a showing that gives closure. Without it I feel empty. Like something is not complete. And perhaps we could have a small gathering to celebrate her life and legacy. To remember the girl who could always make you laugh, would always make the room light up with her smile and who loved her family and friends with such fierceness.

So if there is any way you can help, I thank you in advance. Even prayers are much appreciated. This was a sudden and unexpected death that has rocked our family to its core. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, mother, grandmother, partner, aunt and cousin. She also had many who called her friend.
