Hello, this is Kingsley, he is a one year old Eastern Fox Tail squirrel! At the early age of just one week old, he was found in our apartment complex hairless, and eyes still sealed shut, just lying in the dirt squirming around. His mother was shortly found dead near by, and with all the stray cats in our surrounding complexes there was no hesitation to take him home!! So we did the best we could to take care of the little man, staying up around the clock to syringe feed him and help him go potty. We watched him grow, we watched ourselves learn, and together we've all grown extremely close! He is our baby and we would do anything to make sure he is healthy and happy! Recently Kingsley was transitioned from living almost a full year indoors since he was found to going outdoors to our patio, still in his cage! We left his cage open from morning till dark to let him roam, go up trees, mingle with the other visiting squirrels! Unfortunately because he was so spoiled and so loved by us he is not too fond of living out doors.. He loves the freedom but he doesn't love seeing his family living inside through a window. Every day he follows us inside the front door and if we don't let him in, he scratches at the door and waits for us to come. He is no ordinary squirrel by any means! About a week ago Kingsley came inside to enjoy some time with us on the couch eating almonds as he usually did! Well, Kingsley decided he was going to jump from one couch to the other to hide the nut he was given, and he missed the arm of the couch and took a fall on the hardwood floor!!! Kingsley knocked his tooth forward causing him to bleed from both his nose and his mouth from the trauma. Kingsley also fractured his right leg causing him to not be able to walk on it! Unfortunately we did not raise the goal for his surgery on his leg, as hard as we tried it is too big of an expense for us to pay up front and we just don't have it in our accounts. He is currently recovering from having both of his top teeth removed, and is on bed rest until his appointment for x-rays on his leg. They will be taking X-rays on his leg to determine if it is healing crooked or if he in fact will have to amputate his leg. Kingsley is our baby and we love him dearly, and the last thing we want is to see him loose his leg! Kingsley's funds will be going towards X-rays, vet check ups, medication, and any future surgeries if he does have to loose his leg.
